FEATURED
SHOW:
10th ANNUAL MAIN STREET
CAR-SHOW
Garden Grove, CA, October 22, 2005
Rockabilly
and Hot Rods
The downtown business association of Garden Grove host a
successful weekly show each Friday afternoon and with the
cool posters and publicity of this event we wondered why
this show was so small. Great trophies, live bands, a scheduled
Pin-Up Girl contest and BBQ goods would normally ensure
a big turn-out.
This was not the case for this show. The weather has been
a bit funky and rain was in the forcast which brought only
the hard-core show cars.
We met up with Bob Richey who's 60 Biscayne is our Featured
Car this month. You got to check this car out HERE.
Check
out Bob Stokes 67 Olds 442 on Page 02. He brought it down
from Buellton. I didn't get a chance to ask him if he drove
it the 5 plus hours, and with gas prices the way they are,
I can understand if he trailered it.
The
cars were lined up and down the historic main street surrounded
by the sounds of the Rock-a-billy bands playing in the central
intersection. At one point this goofy guy started dancing
to the band and ended up ripping off his shirt and spinning
it around among the laughter and tears in the audience.
The
Pin-Up Girl contest was cancelled since there were no contestants.
Main Street Pizza had their beer patio open and people were
enjoying Pizza and Beer while listening to the great bands.
All
in all it was a good time for those who went and there were
plenty of winners with the extensive trophy pool. Look for
the show again next October, sure to be bigger and better.
